MANILA, PHILIPPINES — After a 65-58 quarterfinal victory over Thai opponent Suriya Suanasing at Ha Dong Gymnasium in Hanoi, Vietnam, Efren “Bata” Reyes is guaranteed at least a bronze medal at the 31st SEA Games 2022 carom tournament.
The semifinal will be held on Wednesday, while the final will be held on Thursday.
Reyes trimmed Suanasingh’s deficit to ten points after ending the interval with a 24-39 deficit.
He rallied to cut the margin to single digits when Suanasingh missed the shot with the score at 31-46, and ended the run with a miscue, 40-46.
He cut the deficit to 5 (47-42) after a few turns, outscoring Suanasingh to move away with the lead after leveling the series at 51-all, and was greeted with a tremendous ovation as he earned victory.
