The Canadian musician has found himself embroiled in controversy following the circulation of what seemed to be a sex tape on social media platforms like Twitter on Tuesday, February 6.
Social media buzzed with discussions about Canadian rapper Drake after what was purported to be an explicit video of the musician surfaced online. Titled “Drake Leaked Video,” the footage depicted an individual resembling the Canadian superstar undressing from the waist down and engaging in self-touching while seated on a bed.
Reports from pagesix.com suggested that the 37-year-old appeared nonchalant about the leaked video, even laughing it off when asked about it by popular streamer Adin Ross.
As of now, the “Hotline Bling” singer has yet to issue a statement regarding the alleged leak. Speculation surrounds the possibility that the video may have been recorded on his private jet.
It’s crucial to acknowledge that the identity of the individual in the video cannot be confirmed as Drake, as their face is largely obscured by the cell phone used to capture the footage.
Following reports that the posts garnered over 27 million views and 260,000 likes within 19 hours, the account responsible for sharing the images was suspended. Consequently, social media platform X temporarily restricted searches related to the singer’s name.
Joe Benarroch, the head of business operations at the social media company, stated to the Wall Street Journal that this action was taken as a precautionary measure, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to prioritizing safety. X reiterated its stance that posting such content is strictly prohibited, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy towards such material.
The previous week, sexually explicit deepfake images featuring Taylor Swift gained widespread attention online, leading social media platform X to temporarily disable searches related to the singer’s name on their app during that time.
