CdeO reports six new COVID-19 cases; five local APORs, one ROF

City Health Officials announced six new positive cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, August 25. In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery reported six new COVID-19 confirmed cases, of which five are local Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) and one returning overseas Filipino worker (ROF). The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is 255. Out of the cumulative total, 85 or 33.33 percent are active cases, two currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 14 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 69 cases under the ROF/LSI category. Dr. Nery also announced four new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 161, while deaths remain at nine. Of the 255 cumulative total, 203 are under the LSI/ROF category, constituting 79.60 percent, with 69 active cases and 134 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 52 including the five additional cases, bringing the total percentage to 20.39 percent, with 14 active cases, nine deaths, and 27 recovered. rof-lsi-loca-cases-in-cdo-aug-25 City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, on the other hand, reported the latest COVID-19 status in the city, starting with the repeat swab results of patients from the TTMF. Most of the active cases staying at the TTMF are all asymptomatic, with some experiencing mild symptoms. Repeat swab results today, August 25:

  • 143rd Case: 46-year-old male, LSI from Bayabas; tested positive on his 4th swab
  • 169th Case: 30-year-old male, ROF from Balulang; tested positive on his 3rd swab
  • 170th Case: 36-year-old male, LSI from Tablon; tested positive on his 3rd swab
  • 233rd Case: 39-year-old male, ROF from Pagatpat; tested positive on his 2nd swab
  • Non-CDO Case: 45-year-old, APOR from Quezon; tested positive on 4th swab
Moreover, the four close contacts of the 235th local APOR case will undergo their first swab test today. Likewise, below are the profiles of the six new positive cases, as reported by Dr. Retuya:

250th Case: 30-year-old female, ROF from the Middle East

  • A resident of Brgy Consolacion
  • Arrived in NAIA on August 13; swabbed upon arrival
  • Stayed in a hotel in Makati
  • Result came out negative on Aug 17
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 17
  • Staying at the City Isolation Unit (CIU)
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Identified one direct contact; companion at OWWA’s CIU
  • Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
  • Contact tracing is ongoing

251st Case: 29-year-old female, Local APOR

  • A resident of a gated community in Upper Balulang
  • Healthcare worker
  • Close contact of a COVID-positive case who visited their institution for medical care
  • Last day of exposure was on August 17; self-isolation
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Identified five household contacts
  • Staying in an isolation unit provided by her institution
  • Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
  • Contact tracing is on going

252nd Case: 34-year-old male, Local APOR

  • A resident of a gated community in Brgy Kauswagan
  • Arrived in Cagayan de Oro last February 2020 as support worker
  • Close contact of COVID-positive Case 211
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Stayed in an isolation unit provided by his institution
  • Identified close contact—already isolated and swabbed
  • Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
  • Close contact is ongoing
  • Staying at the TTMF

253rd Case: 28-year-old male, Local APOR

  • A resident in a subdivision in Brgy Lumbia
  • Assigned in an institution in Lumbia
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Staying in an isolation unit provided by his institution
  • Identified three household close contacts
  • Asymptomatic with no known comorbidity
  • Close contact is ongoing
  • For transfer to TTMF

254th Case: 31-year-old male, Local APOR

  • A resident in Brgy Lumbia
  • Assigned in an institution in Lumbia since 2015
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Staying in an isolation unit provided by his institution
  • For transfer to TTMF

255th Case: 27-year-old female, Local APOR

  • A resident in a gated establishment in Upper Carmen
  • Healthcare worker
  • Close contact of COVID-positive Case 238
  • Last day of exposure was on August 19
  • Swabbed on August 22; result came out positive on August 24
  • Staying in an isolation unit provided by his institution
  • Experiencing mild symptoms; No known comorbidity
  • Identified 14 close contacts from household and workplace
  • Contact tracing is ongoing
Dr. Retuya also reported one retagged case, a 21-year-old female student, LSI from Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via plane on August 16 and was brought to CIU. She was swabbed on August 22 and tested positive on August 24. Currently, she is staying at the TTMF, and contact tracing is ongoing. Nine COVID-positive cases tested positive on their repeat swab test, including:
  • 163rd Case: 57-year-old male, LSI from Brgy Cugman; tested positive on 3rd swab
  • 182nd Case: 32-yead-old female, LSI from Brgy 17; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 183rd Case: 28-year-old, ROF from Brgy Puntod; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 184th Case: 26-year-old, LSI from Brgy Carmen; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 186th Case: 34-year-old male, ROF from Brgy Tablon; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 187th Case: 29-year-old male, ROF from Brgy Bulua; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 188th Case: 39-year-old male, ROF from Brgy indahag; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 189th Case: 34-year-old male, ROF from Brgy Bugo; tested positive on 2nd swab
  • 161st Case: 22-year-old male, LSI from Brgy Pagatpat; tested positive on 3rd swab

  • Non-CDO Case: 36-year-old male, APOR from Iloilo; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • Non-CDO Case: 49-year-old female, LSI from Muntinlup; tested negative on 2nd swab
  • Non-CDO Case 45 male, APOR from Laguna; tested negative on 2nd swab
Swab tests were also conducted to close contacts of COVID-positive patients, which all tested negative.

Testing for close contacts is conducted five days after the last exposure from the COVID-positive cases. On the other hand, focus containment in Upper Carmen will be lifted tomorrow, August 26, while contained areas in Carmen and Gusa will be lifted sometime next week. Active health surveillance is ongoing, as well as follow up for swabbing within the focus containment area.   Watch today’s press briefing below.
