Multiple earthquakes struck Mindanao, Philippines earlier today (February 10, 2024). According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a magnitude 1.5, 5.9, and 1.6 struck Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, and Oriental Mindoro respectively.
A magnitude of 1.5 struck Surigao del Sur province on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 7:57 a.m. local time. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 32 kilometers. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 14 kilometers southwest of Hinatuan town, Surigao del Sur.
Additionally, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 shook Agusan del Sur province at 11:22 a.m. local time. The earthquake’s epicenter was located at 2 kilometers southwest of Agusan del Sur and had a shallow depth of 27 kilometers, according to PHIVOLCS.

PHIVOLCS bulletin says there are no expected damages; however, aftershocks are to be expected.
Recently, as of 12:30 PM, a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 1.6 on the surface wave magnitude scale (Ms) occurred near Pola, Oriental Mindoro. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 13.18 degrees north latitude and 121.41 degrees east longitude, about 5 kilometers north-northwest of Pola.
No intensity reports were received from the affected areas, and no damage or injuries were expected from the tremor, PHIVOLCS said.
