The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has taken a firm stand against deceptive job postings that have been making rounds on various social media platforms, specifically on Facebook and TikTok. These misleading posts entice job seekers with the promise of unusually high monthly salaries, even for High School Graduates, while falsely suggesting an affiliation with the BIR.
BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. has made it clear that the BIR neither initiated, created, nor authorized such deceptive job advertisements. The Bureau emphasizes that these postings are fraudulent and aimed at deceiving the public.
In response to this concerning situation, the BIR urges the public to exercise vigilance and caution when considering job postings on social media or other platforms. It is essential to verify information from official sources to avoid falling victim to scams or fraudulent practices.
Commissioner Lumagui, Jr. assured the public that The BIR takes the issue of misleading job postings seriously and is actively working to identify the source and responsible parties saying “The BIR is committed to providing equal and fair opportunities to all job applicants in accordance with the government’s principles of transparency and integrity; hence, this matter is taken seriously because it misleads job seekers. We assure the public that we are actively investigating the source of these misleading posts to hold those responsible accountable for their actions. We thank the public for their continued support and cooperation in combating misinformation and ensuring a secure and credible job application process.”
To avoid any misinformation or scams, all individuals seeking employment opportunities with the BIR are strongly advised to rely solely on the Bureau’s official channels of information. The legitimate list of job vacancies, along with their respective requirements, can be found on the BIR Website and/or the BIR Official Facebook Page.
