SAN JUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES — For the first time after 3 years of the pandemic, San Juan City has finally celebrated the Wattah Wattah Festival 2022!
The San Juan Festival 2022 is an event that celebrates Saint John the Baptist.
In the live videos shared by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, spectators of the event were showered with water coming from firetrucks.

The city residents were seen jumping and dancing in the streets as Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel pointed the fire hose at them.
“After three long years, ito na po ay magaganap muli ang aming selebrasyon ng aming kapistahan na nakasanayan ng bawat isa (the traditional celebration of our festival will happen again),” Mayor Zamora said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita.
The celebration was made possible since San Juan City is under IAFT Alert Level 1.
Other than the traditional “basaan” event, there was also a concert and fireworks display, which were attended by thousands on Thursday night, June 23.
Zamora also said that those joining the events are still required to wear a face mask, except for the performers.
A liquor ban has also been imposed in the city from 12 am to 3 pm. on Friday.
As per usual, throwing dirty “water bombs” (plastic bags and bottles containing water) or dousing dirty water is prohibited. Additionally, opening the doors of vehicles is not allowed.
The Pinaglaban shrine area has also been closed to traffic. Motorists are asked o find other routes around the area. – WhatALife!
