Cagayan de Oro, June 10, 2024 – Xavier Ateneo University has announced that its Computer Science and Information Systems programs have been re-accredited by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). The re-accreditation is valid for a period of five years, until May 2029. It follows thorough accreditation visits conducted earlier this year.
This re-accreditation marks a significant milestone for Xavier Ateneo. Consequently, it promises to benefit students by ensuring the highest standards of academic excellence and quality assurance. Moreover, the re-accreditation process evaluates various aspects of the programs, including curriculum, faculty qualifications, and resources, to ensure they meet national and international standards.
University President Fr. Mars P. Tan, SJ, commended the efforts of Dr. Juliet Q. Dalagan, Vice President of Higher Education, and Dr. Meldie A. Apag, Dean of the College of Computer Studies, for their leadership. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Area Chairs of the Interim PAASCU Self-Survey Team, chairpersons, faculty, and staff. Special recognition was given to Engr. Gerry Doroja, the Strategy and Quality Management Office, the Physical Plant Office, and various central administration offices for their support.
For students, the PAASCU re-accreditation signifies a commitment to maintaining high educational standards. This can enhance their learning experience and improve their employability. Furthermore, graduates from accredited programs are often more competitive in the job market, as employers recognize the rigorous standards these programs adhere to.
