WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), two weather systems still affect the country. They are monitoring the LPA (Low-Pressure Area), formerly named QUEENIE, which is affecting Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao.
PAGASA continues to monitor the STS (Severe Tropical Storm) NALGAE (formerly PAENG), and based on the latest data, the STS NALGAE is now located 640 km West of Itbayat, Batanes (20.4°N, 115.7°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 110 km per hour near the center and a gustiness of up to 120 km per hour. It is moving North Northwestward at 10 km per hour.
“Narito parin yung dalawang weather system na halos nakakaapekto sa ating bansa,” said PAGASA Weather Forecaster Obet Badrina.

However, STS NALGAE is moving further from the country and approaching the southern portion of China. It is expected to weaken further, and its effects will not reach the country.
Meanwhile, the LPA, formerly known as QUEENIE, is now located 355 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (6.9°N, 129.2°E). It is expected to affect Eastern Visayas, Leyte, Caraga, and Davao Region.

For today’s weather forecast, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Trough of the LPA.
The rest of the areas in Visayas and Mindanao can expect fair weather with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms.
