WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Low-Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored near Mindanao has fully dissipated. At the moment, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the shear line bring rains over the country.

The LPA being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has finally dissipated. As a result, Mindao is forecast to have fair weather for the rest of the day.

On the other hand, the Northeast Monsoon continues to bring light rains and colder weather over northern Luzon while the shear line brings rain over Visayas.

Besides the cloud clusters near Mindanao, the weather agency is currently not monitoring any LPA near the PAR.

DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja also reports no tropical cyclone is expected over the weekend until the end of January.

WEATHER TODAY – JANUARY 27, 2023

For today’s weather forecast, Palawan, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Romblon may experience light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains brought by the shear line. Residents are warned of possible floods and landslides.

Due to the Northeast Monsoon, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains may be experienced over Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Quezon, Aurora, up to Cagayan Valley, and the eastern parts of the Cordillera Region.

The rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila and Calabarzon, is forecast to have cloudy skies and light rains, particularly in the afternoon to evening hours.

Most of eastern Visayas, Aklan, and Capiz may expect cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line. The rest of Visayas, including the central and western sections, is forecast to have cloudy skies with light rains brought by localized thunderstorms.

Other than Surigao and Dinagat Islands, which are affected by the shear line, most of Mindanao will have fair weather with cloudy skies and rains brought by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA continues to issue a gale warning to select coast areas. Waves are expected to reach up to 5.5 meters. See the full list below:
