weather-update-february-2-2023

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to affect Luzon and Visayas. Meanwhile, no tropical cyclone is expected until the weekend.

Only one weather system, namely the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), is affecting the country’s weather conditions, according to DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja. It brings colder weather and light rains to parts of Luzon and Visayas.

Meanwhile, Mindanao will mostly have fair weather conditions today, with chances of rains due to localized thunderstorms.

At the moment, the weather agency notes no Low-Pressure Area (LPA) inside and nearby the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). There are also no tropical cyclones expected until the weekend.

However, PAGASA informs that at least one tropical storm may enter PAR within the month of February.

For today’s weather forecast, most of Luzon will have partly cloudy skies due to the Northeast Monsoon. Meanwhile, the western section of northern and central Luzon will have fair weather conditions with low chances of rain.

Areas in Visayas are forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, particularly in eastern and northern Visayas, including Panay Islands, Northern Negros, and Northern Cebu.

Due to localized thunderstorms, areas in the Caraga and Davao Region may expect rains as early as in the morning. The rest of Mindanao is forecast to have partly cloudy skies in the morning and clear skies in the afternoon.
