walang pasok announced by several local governments

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Due to a tropical storm, several local government units announced the postponement of classes, saying “walang pasok.”

Cities declared class suspensions since there will be an enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Goring.

Governments have announced “walang pasok” on August 29, 2023, due to the weather.

Typhoon Goring and an enhanced southwest monsoon triggered heavy rain, which led to flooding in some areas. In the following 36 hours, PAGASA predicts Goring will move north or northwest, and on Wednesday afternoon, it will move west-northwest. Given the weather, a number of communities declared a suspension of classes.

The southwest monsoon, or Habagat, is intensifying, according to a bulletin from the government weather agency, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). For the following three days, this is predicted to bring rain to Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas.

Typhoon Goring is expected to pass close to Batanes and could make landfall in the province, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

In Aurora, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Camiguin, and the majority of Zamboanga Peninsula, gusty weather is possible due to the intensified southwest monsoon.
