By definition, the term “queer” within the LGBTQ community encompasses a wide range of identities. It generally refers to attraction toward different genders and to individuals who defy traditional cultural and gender norms, including diverse expressions of sexuality.
Cha and Denz, a viral social media couple, have shared their unique journey as a queer couple—a gay man and a lesbian woman—who welcomed a biological baby together.

In their interview with Toni Gonzaga, they expressed their initial fears about public perception but shared their relief and joy at the overwhelming support from friends and family. Toni emphasized that a baby is a blessing, one that is often warmly embraced by loved ones.
The couple recounted their meeting, with Denz sharing how he first spotted Cha while on duty as a firefighter at a hosting gig. They admitted to experiencing an instant mutual attraction but were candid about their initial confusion regarding the situation.
Cha had only dated women in the past, while Denz had never been in a serious relationship, having only had flings with men. When Toni Gonzaga inquired about the origins of their relationship, they reflected on these complexities.
Denz mentioned that initially, he didn’t notice Cha at the event where she was managing crowd control. He only saw her in the photos shared on social media the next day. He admitted to finding her attractive, despite knowing she was a lesbian.
Denz revealed that he made the first move, but it was Cha who pursued him. When Toni asked about Denz’s preferences, he shared that during his OJT days, he was particularly attracted to masculine lesbians.
They expressed that their relationship felt quite traditional, with Denz embodying the feminine role and Cha representing the masculine. They shared their experience of living together and their unique setup.
When asked about their desire to have a baby, they responded with a playful “Paano?” Denz emphasized their love for each other, noting that the process itself was secondary.

The couple discovered they were expecting when Cha’s period was a week late, initially believing it was a UTI. After a check-up, they returned home and took a pregnancy test, which came back positive. Despite their excitement, they remained cautious due to their UTI suspicions. The next day, they took two more tests, both confirming the pregnancy.
When asked about his feelings upon first seeing his baby, Denz replied, “Iba ate Toni. Ay anak ko ‘to.” He elaborated, “Tas nakita kong umiiyak siya nasa operating room ako eh. Nakita ko lahat ng pangyayari ‘tas na emergency CS siya. Talagang na witness ko lahat ng ano niya. Sabi ko ‘ang hirap maging magulang’ and hirap maging nanay. Saludo ako sa lahat ng nanay…”
“Hindi ko siya minahal dahil kung ano meron sa pagitan ng binti niya. Kundi kung sino siya. Parang nagkaano ako na ‘ah hindi naman lahat biological.’ It’s about love, its the soul inside.”
They also revealed that they initially told their parents not to expect any grandchildren because of their orientation. However, they realized to never say never “because the universe can conspire to make it happen,” says Denz.
When asked what they would like their son to call them, the couple expressed that they are comfortable with being referred to by their biological equivalents. As their son grows older, they plan to have a heartfelt conversation about their unique family dynamic.
