A recent photo of the BINI members arriving at Cebu-Mactan International Airport, wearing masks and caps, went viral. Despite their rising fame, netizens criticized their airport appearance, sparking the BINI airport issue. Additionally, Tio Moreno compared them to veteran Filipina performer Sarah Geronimo.
In his post, Moreno tagged Sarah Geronimo and highlighted her humility in meeting airport fans. In contrast with BINI, the girl group was mostly covered up upon their arrival for their Cebu BINIverse tour leg.
In his post, he hopes members will follow Sarah’s example and demonstrate humility. Since the post went live, it has garnered over ten thousand comments defending the BINI members.
One commenter even stated, “Ignorant post. Why do we always feel entitled to celebrities’ fan service even outside their work? They have lives of their own. If they don’t feel like showing their faces on that day, who are we to take that freedom away from them? Even we, ordinary people, prefer to look our best when we go out. Stop clout chasing. And for the record, I’m not even a BINI fan.”
As a result, the BINI airport issue has been trending, sparking criticism and defense. Recently, the group has faced several privacy concerns, prompting management to release a statement urging respect for the girls’ personal space.

Due to recent incidents where excessive numbers of people have approached the girls during their time, their management urges fans to give them space. Director Lauren Dyogi, their handler, stated, “Tao rin sila.” (They’re people too.)
This statement was released after viral events showed the girls were overwhelmed by fans outside their work schedule. BINI Maloi was dining with her family at a restaurant, and BINI Aiah was out with friends at a club in Cebu.
On July 4, management issued a statement reminding the public about the definition of sexual harassment. “We would like to remind everyone that any action or advance toward a woman in a public place that is unwanted and threatens her sense of personal space may be considered as gender-based street and public space sexual harassment.”
