Tesla Introduces Robotaxi to the Market

Elon Musk just introduced Tesla’s Robotaxi, with production set to begin on 2026. The newest driverless taxi competitor in the market features gull-wing doors without a steering wheel or gas pedals.

The Robotaxi is set to retail for less than $30,000. Called “Robocab,” Musk says it costs less than 20 cents a mile to run.

“The vast majority of the time, cares are just doing nothing. But if they’re autonomous, they could be used five times more, maybe ten times more.”

Moreover, Musk says that the vehicle is set to undergo various real-world tests, including Unsupervised Full Self-Driving (FSD).

The Tesla event was held at the Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles. They revealed their newest driverless vehicle on October 10.

The latest Tesla news includes the Robocab or Cybercab’s designs and tire specs. Its exterior is heavily inspired by the popular Tesla Cybertruck. Additionally, its wheels have aero covers that partly extend to the tire.

Specifics on its interior and cargo area have yet to be shared. However, attendees of the Tesla event say that it’s relatively spacious. Regarding its charging, Tesla’s driverless taxi features an inductive charging system, one of their newest wireless technologies.

In 2019, Tesla’s CEO promised a robot axis, which wasn’t fulfilled. Five years later, they finally shared their developing product with the public.

The National says the electric vehicle brand is “at risk of posting its first decline in deliveries this year as buying incentives have failed to attract enough customers to its aging EV line-up.”

In addition, the driverless taxi industry is still in uncharted waters. Many businesses venturing into this were forced to halt operations due to regulations and complicated technology. Furthermore, another awaited product from the company is Tesla’s Robovan, which is an autonomous coupe.

Further details about Tesla’s driverless taxi variant, including its edge over competitors, are still to be shared with the public.
