SIM CARD REGISTRATION UPDATE — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) reports that over 57 million SIM cards, or 34.04 percent, have been registered as of April 2, 2023.

On the official SIM Registration Update page of NTC, 57,192,473 SIM cards, or 34.04 percent of the 168 million subscribers, have been registered as of 11:59 pm on April 2, 2023.

Of the 57 million total, 28.9 million are SMART subscribers (43.70 percent of its 67 million total users), 23.8 million are Globe subscribers (27.48 percent of its 87 million total users), and 4.3 million are DITO subscribers (29.28 percent of its 13 million total users).

DICT still considering whether to extend SIM card registration deadline

In an interview with the Manila Times, DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo said the DICT is still considering whether to extend the SIM card registration deadline.



“The law provides a 120-days extension,” Lamentillo said. “Pinag-me-meetingan pa po namin yan, and the government has not yet decided whether to extend the period of implementation for the purposes of SIM registration law.”
