MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In a highly anticipated season finale, Shane Bernabe from Bamboo Manalac’s team emerged as the champion of “The Voice Kids” Season 5, which aired on May 21, 2023. This victory marks Bamboo’s second win as a coach in the popular singing competition.
Bernabe’s exceptional talent stood out as she outperformed Rai Fernandez from Martin Nievera’s team and Xai Martinez from KZ Tandingan’s team during the grand finale. Her captivating rendition of “Sino Ang Baliw” left all three coaches in awe.
Bamboo, visibly overwhelmed by Bernabe’s performance, praised her incredible stage presence and remarked, “You’re a ready performer. You’re already a champion. You did it. You owned it. Speechless si coach.”
Bernabe’s win comes with a cash prize of one million pesos in cash and a recording contract with UMG Philippines.
“The Voice Kids” Season 5 premiered on February 25, 2023, simultaneously airing on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5. This season featured Bamboo Manalac returning as a coach, joined by new coaches KZ Tandingan and Martin Nievera.
Notably, it was the first season among the Philippine editions to have only one female coach and to introduce the block button, allowing coaches to prevent another coach from selecting a contestant.
The program made its comeback with new hosts Robi Domingo and Bianca Gonzalez, bringing fresh energy to the show. Auditions for the fifth season took place in November, and the competition showcased talented young aspirants aged 6 to 12.
“The Voice Kids” has been a platform for discovering exceptional young talent in the Philippines. Previous coaches of the “Kids” edition included Lea Salonga across four seasons, Sarah Geronimo (except for the third season), and Sharon Cuneta, who joined in the third season.– WhatALife!/Jayve
