MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Famous Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin and Syrian-Swedish artist Jwan Yosef are divorcing after six years of marriage.
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer and the Syrian-Swedish artist announced their statement of splitting on Thursday, July 6.
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years,” they announced.
“Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children,” they followed.
They were first matched with each other on Instagram in 2015 when Ricky contacted Jwan about his art collection. They started dating six months after meeting in London for the first time.
They then debuted together on the red carpet at Brazil’s 2016 amfAR Inspiration Gala.
Ricky Martin announced their engagement in November 2016 and gave information about their marriage in January 2018.
After dating for several years, the ex-couple share four children: son Renn, who was born in 2019; daughter Luicia, who was born in 2018; and twins Matteo and Valentino, who were born in 2008.
Their divorce surfaced after years of allegations about Martin being in a romantic relationship with his nephew.
“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges.” “Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew,” Ricky Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer stated.
Martin then came out gay publicly in 2010, posting a statement on his website saying he was “proud” and “blessed” to be gay. – WhatALife!/Zain
