Easterlies continues to affect the eastern section of the country

WEATHER UPDATE – According to PAGASA, the eastern section of the country will experience cloudy skies with rain caused by Easterlies today, February 21 (Wednesday).

The weather bureau forecasts cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur according to its 4 a.m bulletin. PAGASA states that Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are also expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country caused by the Easterlies and Localized Thunderstorms. 

Furthermore, the risk of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms will continue to persist across the archipelago.



Meanwhile, PAGASA’s Wind and Coastal Water forecast shows that the Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong east to southeast winds, causing moderate to rough coastal water conditions (1.2 to 2.8 meters).

Light to Moderate east to northeast winds are expected in the rest of the country with slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.5 meters) coastal waters. 

Areas affected by Easterlies are advised to remain vigilant in the surrounding area and to prepare for evacuation when heavy rains occur.

The remainder of the country are also advised to prepare for evacuation when unexpected heavy rainfall occurs.
