WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Low-Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored is spotted 345km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It currently has a low chance of turning into a Tropical Storm.
The weather agency reports that the LPA is moving away from the country. However, it will still affect the weather conditions of the southern portion of Northern and Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, the prevailing Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to bring rain over Northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
As seen in PAG-ASA’s satellite image, fair weather is forecast over the remaining parts of the country for the rest of the day.
WEATHER TODAY – FEBRUARY 21, 2023
For today’s weather forecast, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, may experience cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA.
Due to the Northeast Monsoon, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with chances of rain.
Areas in Ilocos Region and CAR may expect fair weather with chances of isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are forecast to have fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms.
Temperatures range from 21 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius.
Visayas and Mindanao are forecast to have fair weather for the rest of the day, with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.
Temperatures range from 24 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.
PAGASA has also released gale warnings today for the following coastal areas:
- Batanes
- Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- Isabela
- Aurora
- Ilocos Norte
- Northern coast of Quezon, including northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Island
- Camarines Norte
- Northern coast of Camarines Sur
- Northern coast of Catanduanes
- Ilocos Sur
- Pangasinan
- La Union
- Zambales
