PAGASA: Typhoon EGAY Causing Flooding and Strong Winds

WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the center of the eye of the Typhoon EGAY was estimated at 320 km East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora or 350 km East Southeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h.

Southwest Monsoon affecting Visaytas, Mindanao, and western section of Southern Luzon. 

Weather Today – July 25, 2023

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora will have stormy weather due to Typhoon EGAY being over the area. There will be possible flooding or landslides due to the heavy and intense rainy weather. There will also be minor to moderate threat to lives and properties due to the strong winds the listed areas will be experiencing. 

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, and the rest of Central luzon will experience heavy rains and gusty winds caused by Typhoon EGAY which may affect the areas with possible floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. There will be mino threat to lives and properties due to strong winds. 



THere will be cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Lanao del Norte, and the rest of Luzon.Typhoon EGAY and the Southwest Monsoon will cause the weather conditions to shift and affect the areas with flash floods or landslides during heavy rains. 

The rest of Mindanao will be partly cloudy with rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon affecting the areas with floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. 

Wind conditions will be severely strong in Northern, Eastern, and Southern sections of Luzon including Visayas. The strong winds will cause rough coastal water conditions.

Northern Luzon will be experiencing strong wind force due to the typhoon. The areas are:



  • CAGAYAN VALLEY REGION
  • Isabela
  • CORDILLERA ADMIN REGION
  • Apayao

On the tip of the typhoon, areas will be affected by extreme flooding advisory. The listed areas that should take cautionary actions from extreme flooding are:

  • Catanduanes
  • Sorsogon
  • Albay
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur
  • Masbate
