WEATHER UPDATE — According to the Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will be affecting Palawan and Mindanao, causing storms and cloudy skies in the rest of the country as well.
PAGASA has stated that the country will have regular weather until the afternoon and evening as there will be rain showers and thunderstorms that the ITCZ causes. PAGASA has not issued any gale warnings as all the sea levels will be slightly to a moderate height around the country.
Weather Today – June 21, 2023
BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Palawan areas will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, causing them to experience flash floods or landslides during heavy rain. Cautionary actions are advised due to the heavy rain the ITCZ will cause.
Palawan will have light to moderate winds from Southeast to Southwest that will prevail over Visayas and Occidental Mindoro, causing light to average sea levels.
Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from West to Southwest, causing slight to moderate seas as well. The sea levels will range from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms that will cause flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. The ITCZ and localized thunderstorms will affect the area’s weather.
PAGASA has issued General Flood Advisory to several areas in moderate and severe signals.
The moderate signals are for the following areas:
- Lanao Del Sur
- Maguindanao
- Basilan
- Sulu
- Palawan
- Occidental Mindoro
- Oriental Mindoro
The severe signals are for the following areas:
- Zamboanga Del Norte
- Zamboanga Del Sur
- Zamboanga Sibugay
- Misamis Occidental
- Bukidnon
- Lanao Del Norte
- Misamis Oriental
