City Health Officials announced nine new positive cases for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Cagayan de Oro on Thursday, August 27.
In today’s press briefing, City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery reported nine new COVID-19 confirmed cases, of which three are locally stranded individuals (LSIs), four are returning overseas Filipino (ROFs) workers, one local, and one local Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR).
The total cumulative cases for COVID-19 in the city is 271.
Out of the cumulative total, 93 or 34 percent are active cases, four currently admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 16 outpatients staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), and 73 cases under the ROF/LSI category.
Dr. Nery also announced three new recoveries, bringing the total recovery count to 169 (62.36%), while deaths remain at nine (3.3%).
Of the 271 cumulative total, 215 are under the LSI/ROF category, constituting 79.33 percent, with 73 active cases and 142 recovered. Meanwhile, local cases rise to 56 including the two additional cases, bringing the total percentage to 20.66 percent, with 16 active cases, nine deaths, and 27 recoveries.
City Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, on the other hand, reported the latest COVID-19 status in the city, starting with the repeat swab results of patients from the TTMF.

Dr. Retuya also reported three non-CDO COVID-positive cases: a 22-year-old male LSI from Bohol, 24-year-old female LSI from Las Piñas, and 21-year-old female from Iligan City. The 21-year-old female stayed one night at Barangay Puntod, which is now being contained by the health surveillance team. Currently, she is admitted in NMMC for close monitoring.
Moreover, the City Epidemiologist also announced three new recovered cases in the city, namely:
143rd Case: 46-year-old male, LSI from Bayabas; tested negative on 4th swab
30-year-old male, ROF from Balulang; tested negative on 4th swab
39-year-old male, ROF from Pagatpat; tested negative on 2nd swab
Non-CDO Case: 61-year-old female, LSI from Iligan; 2nd swab
Likewise, the active health surveillance is ongoing in five contained areas in the city, including Zone 7, Carmen; Macapaya, Camaman-an; Sta Cruz, Camaman-an; Zone 4B, Gusa; and Phase 2 Habitat, Indahag. A portion in NHA, Barangay Kauswagan (20-30 households) and a portion of Barangay Puntod are the latest focus containment announced by the health officials. See the maps below.
Meanwhile, three family close contacts of the 238th case and six family close contacts of the 242nd case all tested negative and will be discharged from CIU soon.
