Netflix released a new reality show based on the movie ‘Squid Game’ which is titled ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’, known as the Squid Game season 2.
The new Netflix reality show ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ is a whole different story, with a $4.56-million jackpot prize, the highest reality show price ever with 456 contestants fighting to bring home the said jackpot prize.
The players are expected to live in a giant Squid Game set for many weeks, without any contact to the outside world and surrounded with Netflix’s camera to watch their every move.
The new reality show also captures the attention of the media due to issues that circulated inside and outside the Squid Game world.
Two contestants from the reality series were said to perform a threatening legal action over alleged injuries contestants suffered while filming the reality series.
David Slade, an accident specialist with Express Solicitors, said at least two contestants felt “unwell” after standing or crouching “motionless for hours in cold temperatures,” which led to one contestant suffering from hypothermia. There was also a concern about the iconic green uniform, which one contestant alleged did not properly protect her from the chilly conditions, Slade added.
The first round of the competition was held at Cardington Studios in Bedford, England. It was also reported that the temperature was ‘very cold’ on set, where warmers and placed heaters were distributed by staff.
Meanwhile, Lansing man’s Edward Morris joined the reality show series. He heard about the casting of the reality show based on the popular Korean series ‘Squid Game’, on the radio while driving to work.
Morris, 30, a Lansing resident and 2010 Everett High School graduate, was already a “Squid Game” fan. The drama follows characters who risk their lives in a secret and deadly contest involving children’s games in hopes of winning money. Those who fail to finish the games are killed in the drama series.
“It’s like ‘Saw,’ but for prize money,” Edward Morris said. Morris was one of 81,000 people who screened to compete and one of 456 people who made it to the competition.
