Get ready to clear your schedules and make some quality family time, because the last week of September is formally proclaimed as Family Week! This is in line with Malacañang’s issuance of Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 32, temporarily suspending work in government offices under the Executive branch at 3 p.m. on Monday, September 25.
Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, this gesture not only grants government employees a well-deserved break but also encourages them to actively participate in programs and activities that celebrate Family Week. These events are organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.
Moreover, “The suspension of work in all branches of government, in independent commissions or bodies, and in the private sector is encouraged, so as to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 31st National Family Week,” reads the memo, denoting that the objective is to let every Filipino family savor the beauty of the 31st National Family Week to the fullest.
This proclamation by Malacañang is a nod to the long-standing Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1991), which designates the last week of September each year as Family Week. It’s an opportunity for government workers and their families to celebrate the Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day, as proclaimed in Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012).
In essence, this move emphasizes the importance of Family Week and its role in strengthening family bonds.
With MC No. 32 in effect, government employees are encouraged to seize the moment, spend quality time with their loved ones, and engage enthusiastically in the diverse activities and initiatives that promote the welfare and unity of Filipino families during this special week.
