In celebration of Women’s Month, Toni Gonzaga featured Geraldine Olmos, widely known as “Neneng B,” on her show Toni Talks.
During the interview, Neneng B shared her life experiences, revealing a difficult childhood experience and her journey before becoming the viral food vendor.
Geraldine recounted her parents’ separation when she was barely a year old.
“Matagal ba silang nagsama?” Toni asked.
“Matagal-tagal din po pero mga bandang huli, si father po sumakabilang bahay po.” she replied.
She further added that due to the pain her mother felt with her father’s infidelity, her mother got involved with illegal drugs.
“Naghanap po siya ng malalabasan po ng sama ng loob. Kaya napunta po si nanay sa masamang landas po, nagbisyo po siya,” She shared.
Geraldine opened up a rough period in her childhood when her mother went into rehabilitation.
“Nung na-rehab na po si mother, natuto po akong ano mamalimos po sa kalye po.” she said.
“Ilang taon ka nung namalimus ka?” Toni asked.
“Mga 8-9 po.” she replied.
Geraldine opened up about feeling helpless in that situation.
She shared that her mother’s turning point came when she learned about her children begging in the streets, motivating her to change for the better.
“Nabalitaan po ng mother ko na ano, namamalimos po yung mga anak niya. Kasi mula po nun, nagbago po ‘yung pananaw ni mama na ‘Ay hindi pwede ‘to.’” She shared.
Since then, her mother did everything that’s best for her children.
“Nagtitinda po siya, kung ano-ano po ‘yung tinitinda niya para lang po mabuhay kami.” she shared.
She discussed their humble beginnings as product sellers before transitioning in selling food products. Their life-changing moment when she went viral because of a vlogger who named her “Neneng B.”
Because of the viral video, a lot has changed in their lives and business.
“Hindi na po namin kailangang mangutang sa mga 5-6 po.” she remarked.
