SSS Personal Reference Number
Before choosing the most convenient payment option, let’s learn about the SSS PRN.
PRN or Personal Reference Number is a unique number code given to each member whenever they pay their contribution.
The PRN is a requirement set forth by the SSS as a part of its Real-Time Processing of Contributions (RTPC) program. The program ensures that its members’ payments are quickly posted to their records and enables members to access SSS benefits immediately.
Therefore, all contribution payments made outside the jurisdiction of SSS require a PRN. These PRN can be obtained using the SSS mobile application or automatically sent by the SSS office every month, which is also the amount of time that these PRNs are valid.
SSS Payment Transaction Options
SSS Offices
Most SSS offices accept and process payments, concerns, registration, and many other SSS-related services. This was, and still is, the most common way of paying your contribution fees. The main advantage of paying using this method is you can ask questions regarding your account when doing a transaction.
Moreover, many Filipino citizens still lack the means to pay online and are confused and distrustful of using other payment methods. This is also due to the stigma that people far from the cities are often scammed by introducing new practices and technologies.
Bayad Centers
If you’re not updated about the latest trends, most government agencies have relocated their offices near shopping centers and malls. In addition to these offices are the Bayad Centers, which accept bill payments ranging from utility bills to government transactions.
These Bayad Centers are often located in convenience stores, mini-marts, and other places, such as pawn shops and remittance centers. However, Bayad Centers charge a convenience fee which is often Php 15 or a percentage of the bill paid.
Over-The-Counter (OTC) Payments
This form of payment is available on select partners such as Robinsons and SM malls. OTC payments are similar to paying in SSS offices with the addition of a convenience charge.
Moreover, inquiry about your account’s status is limited, and there are also times when their system is offline. In addition to malls, there are also partner banks that accept SSS payments. These banks are the following:
- Wealth Bank*
- United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB)
- Union Bank of the Philippines* (UBP)
- Rural Bank of Lanuza*
- PNB Savings Bank*
- Philippine Business Bank (PBB)
- Partner Rural Bank
- First Isabela Cooperative Bank (FICO Bank)
- Bank One Savings Bank
- Bank of Commerce* (BOC)
- Asia United Bank* (AUB)
(Note: Banks with an asterisk (*) on their names also accept other payments, such as PESO funds and loans.)
