MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Former Actress Kris Aquino shared the challenges she has faced regarding her health amid issues with lupus and other autoimmune diseases.

In her recent Instagram update, actress Kris shared that she has been experiencing weakness since Thanksgiving, has lost her appetite even though she’s mostly been consuming milk, and has been coping with persistent headaches.

“Explains and answers almost everything that has happened and is happening. 2024 please be kind,” she captioned in the first video.

“I was having dizzy spells, and my BP (blood pressure) had very weird fluctuations,” she shared.

The former actress and host lost significant weight, going down to 92 Ibs which made her reluctant to post pictures on social media.

Since June 2022, Kris has been living in the United States to undergo treatment for autoimmune diseases.

“I cried non stop when I got my blood panel results. My Churg Strauss/EGPA is still being treated, but to add to it my CREST SYNDROME is now in full ACTIVE mode,” Kris said.

Kris revealed that she is now showing signs of another autoimmune connective tissue disease, contributing to her ongoing health challenges.

“It’s highly likely based on my ANA count, my high inflammatory numbers, my anemia, my now constant elevated blood pressure at night, and the consistent appearance of the “butterfly rash” on my face that I’m at the initial stage of SLE (Systemic lupus erythematosus) or what’s commonly known as lupus,” Kris wrote.

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the immune system erroneously targeting and damaging healthy tissues and organs within the body. This may result in inflammation and harm to different areas such as joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood cells, and the brain.

Kris said her battle with the illness has “become more complex.”

“BUT I promised my sons & my sisters- I won’t be a wimp,” Kris remarked.

“And I’m promising all my friends plus all who continue to pray for me: bawal sumuko, tuloy pa rin ang laban.”

Recently, Kris had a visit from her entertainment industry colleagues, Bela Padilla and Kim Chiu, during their vacation in the United States. Despite challenges, the Crazy Rich Asians star happily announced that she’s making gradual progress, successfully gaining 3 pounds through dedicated diet management.
