CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, PHILIPPINES — A Transition Team has been formed to monitor the turnover of power in Cagayan de Oro City Hall to Rep. Rolando’ Klarex’ Uy of the city’s 1st district, who will take over as mayor on June 30, according to Mayor Oscar Moreno.

“Congressman Uy has his transition team and even during the campaign period he had been briefed and arranged meetings with the department heads who updated him (on their situation). I think he will organize a team that will coordinate with our counterpart team to be led probably by acting City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a to ensure the smooth transition,” Moreno said during a City Hall press briefing on Wednesday.

“I’m sure he’s aware that the City Hall bureaucracy is managed well and if he would institute changes, he would wait for sometime before making it; these changes won’t be sudden. These changes won’t be adversarial because Mayor Klarex had been part of the administration,” Moreno added.

While recognizing that some departments would change, Moreno stated that it is up to the new mayor to implement drastic changes.

When asked what he planned to do after June 30, Moreno joked that he might be able to play basketball or perhaps work as a radio commentator.

Moreno even stated that he would volunteer to maintain the Covid-19 watch program, which his administration started when the pandemic first broke out in March 2020. Even after Moreno officially announced his gubernatorial campaign in March, the news conferences continued.

Moreno contested for governor of Misamis Oriental in this year’s elections but lost; nine years after first serving the province as a congressman in the first district of Misamis Oriental in 1998 and then as governor from 2004 to 2013.

Based on the 98.31% of election returns received as of Friday in Cagayan de Oro City, Rolando Klarex Uy presently has over 157,575 votes. – WhatALife!
