USA — British model Kate Moss expects to testify in Johnny Depp’s high-profile defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard this Wednesday, May 25.
The 48-year-old Moss, known as former girlfriend of Depp, is scheduled to have a video appearance.
According to the New York Post and other US media outlets, Moss, who remained with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star from 1994 to 1997, is being summoned to the witness stand by Depp’s legal team.
During 36-year-old Heard’s testimony earlier this month, she mentioned a reported incident in which Depp allegedly pushed Moss down a flight of stairs. The actress’s reference to the allegation provided an opening for Depp’s lawyers to call Moss as a witness to address the accusation.
The 58-year-old actor sued Heard due to an op-ed she wrote in December 2018 for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
Heard, who appeared in the film “Aquaman,” claimed she did not mention the name of Depp. However, the actor implicates her as a domestic abuser and seeks $50 million for the damages.
The Texas-born actress then countersued him and is asking for $100 million and is claiming that she suffered abuse and physical violence from Depp.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star Depp denied hitting her or any other woman and claimed the opposite during his four days on the witness stand.
Depp submitted the defamation complaint after losing a separate libel case last November 2020 in London that he brought against The Sun for calling him a “wife-beater.”
The three-time Oscar nominee actor and Heard had their marriage in February 2015, followed by finalizing their divorce two years later.
The schedule for closing arguments in the case, set by Judge Penney Azcarate, is this coming Friday, after which it will go to the jury. – WhatALife!
