MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Jervi Li, also known as Kaladkaren, has become the Philippines’ first transgender news presenter.
Kaladkaren was emotional after being a guest news presenter. Her long-time dream was to become an anchor despite her thinking that it would be impossible due to her being transgender.
She was surprised when ABS-CBN allowed her to host a segment on the news.
She reported about the pole vaulter EJ Obiena, a teenager who bought a gadget for his online class from his savings, and Rodeo Masbateno.
Kaladkaren was a guest presenter for the Star Patroller segment, where she reported celebrity news. The previous week, she was awarded Best Supporting Actress in the 1st Metro Manila Film Festival.
She won the award for her role in the comedy film, “Here Comes the Groom,” making her the first trans woman to win the MMFF.
She dedicated her wi to the LGBT community, noting how people like her can excel in the film industry.
She expressed on social media how TV Patrol made her dream come true. In an interview, Li said that she grew up not seeing many transgender people on TV.
With the given opportunity she had, she wished that transgenders would see her. She hopes opening the door for others would also provide them with the opportunity. – WhatALife!/Zain
