MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Labor leader Leody de Guzman stated on Thursday that the upcoming Marcos-Duterte administration would not be recognized. Instead, he will be one of its fiercest critics from the start, he added.
(I will not recognize Bongbong Marcos as President and Sara Duterte as Vice-President. I will oppose their rule and policies, and I will never have the idea that there will be a change in the lives of the Filipinos.)
De Guzman said he would continue pushing for the projects he advocated for during the campaign, but he did not expect anything to happen under Marcos and Duterte’s leadership.
During the campaign, De Guzman promised to raise the national minimum salary to P750, eliminate regional wage boards, and dissolve personnel agencies to end the country’s contractualization.
“Patuloy kami sa pakikipaglaban. Itutuloy namin ang laban mula sa labanan sa halalan tungo sa labanan sa lansangan bitbit ang kahilingan ng masa ng sambayanan,” he said.
(The battle goes on. We shall continue to fight from the polls to the streets, carrying the citizens’ needs.)
De Guzman also cautioned the media not to expect favorable treatment under Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration.
(You don’t expect the media to be treated well by the dynastic-minded. He will violate any law that provides protection to the media and the people.)
(Because the dynastic-minded have no real intention of developing this country, building democracy. The dynasties being developed are their wealth and their continued rule in the country.)
On Tuesday, De Guzman admitted defeat in the Eleksyon 2022 presidential election.
As of 9:19 a.m. on Friday, Marcos is still leading the partial and unofficial count of votes with 31,104,175 votes. – WhatALife!
