“We recently confirmed that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense,” SM Entertainment stated in their Twitter/X post, which was translated later on.
“As we were assessing the facts related to the matter, we recognized the severity of the situation and determined that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the team.”
The agency also added that Taeil’s crime is still undergoing investigation, and the performer in question is fully cooperative. Taeil’s issue just worsens as he was previously involved in a motorbike accident back in August 2023, garnering media attention. Because of the matter, Taeil went on hiatus.

Taeil of NCT is not the only member under fire. Lucas left NCT in May 2023 after being involved in cheating and gaslighting controversies. Additionally, SM Entertainment has to address another scandal regarding NCT members Johnny and Haechan.
Born Moon Tae-il, Taeil’s K-pop run was considered a success. He has been the group’s main vocalist since debuting in 2016, helping NCT 127 reach eight titles on the Billboard 200. He has also lent his voice to the singles “Wave” in February and “Weird” in March, both under this year.
