MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Filipina actress Janella Salvador and Thai actor Win Metawin released a teaser for the upcoming film “Under Parallel Skies” on Thursday, February 1.

Squared Studios has released the official teaser for “Under Parallel Skies,” revealing an April 2024 cinema premiere date. The film, set in Hong Kong, follows Win’s character navigating a mysterious past and connecting unexpectedly with Janella’s character as they both strive to move forward.

“Under Parallel Skies” is directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, known for helming the highest-grossing independent Filipino film, “Kita Kita,” featuring Alessandra de Rossi and Empoy Marquez.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Bernardo expressed that Win and Janella could contribute their distinctive cultural experiences to this “cross-country collaboration.”

“I aim to create a film that celebrates the unique identities and traditions of each culture while also exploring common themes and experiences that unite us as human beings,” Bernardo told ABS-CBN News.

The trailer also features Win’s character briefly speaking Filipino, a brief glimpse into Bernardo’s goal for the multicultural film.

Speculations about their collaboration emerged in June when Win teased a new project with a co-star from outside Thailand. Fan suspicions grew when photos surfaced of the actors engaging in a traditional pre-filming good luck ceremony. A month later, the official confirmation of their movie partnership brought joy to their fans.

Win, a 24-year-old Thai actor, gained prominence through the BL (boys’ love) series “2gether,” where he played the lead alongside Bright Vachiravit. He also took on a role in “F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers,” the Thai version of the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango.

On the other hand, Janella, a 25-year-old actress, recently featured in the Metro Manila Film Festival movie “Mallari.” She has also made a mark through her roles in series such as “Darna,” “The Killer Bride,” and “Be Careful With My Heart.”
