James Reid, the CEO and founder of Careless Music, confirmed that Liza Soberano is no longer with the agency. He revealed that the actress decided to leave management because she had a different career track in mind.
James Reid addressed Liza’s departure in an interview with ABS-CBN News’s YouTube channel, uploaded on Tuesday, September 17.
“Desisyon niya na umalis sa Careless,” Reid said in the interview.
When asked why the actress left, he explained, “We have different, I guess, career paths. Mas focused siya sa US career niya, you know, going in Hollywood, all of that. Kami, mas focus kami dito sa Pilipinas.”

According to the Inquirer, Careless artists have a termination for convenience clause in their contracts, which is why Soberano was able to leave the company.
“In all contracts and agreements I have with my artists, there’s a termination for convenience. You can leave as long as I agree, and nag-agree naman ako,” James Reid said.
“We decided to make a statement because there were a lot of rumors na hindi na siya Careless. So we decided to release the statement just to confirm it so there wouldn’t be any confusion,” he continued.
In the interview with ABS-CBN News, Reid reveals that a different team is managing Soberano.

“Now that she’s no longer with Careless, I know that she has a co-management sa US, that’s Transparent Arts. As far as I know, that’s it…I believe that she’s getting into production for her own series. I think, film as well. She’s still auditioning for the projects in the US.”
Liza Soberano joined Careless in 2022. The company introduced her to the press during their trade event. As a result, it attracted attention to Reid’s company and cemented it as one of the fastest-rising talent management companies in the country.
Despite Liza Soberano’s departure from his company, James Reid wishes the actress well in her career.
“It’s been great working with her. We wish her all of the best for her plans in the US and her career,” he said.
