MANILA PHILIPPINES — Through Proclamation No. 115., President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declares December 26, 2022, as a special non-working holiday in the Philippines. It was signed today, December 22, 2022.
The proclamation states that the decision to make the day after Christmas a non-working holiday is to allow Filipinos to have more time with their families and promote domestic tourism.
“WHEREAS, a longer weekend will encourage families to get together and strengthen their relationship towards a more productive environment, and will promote domestic tourism,” wrote the proclamation.
December 25, 2022 falls on a Sunday, so making Monday as a holiday will be beneficial to many Filipinos to rest fully during Christmas.
