USA — Instagram announces that the app is running again after a brief global outage.
When users try to refresh their Instagram feed, the app shows a cached feed and is unable to see new posts. On the bottom of the app it reads, “Couldn’t refresh feed.”
During the height of Instagram’s outage, the outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed over 100,000 reports in the United States, 24,000 in Canada, and over 56,000 in Britain. At its peak, more than 180,000 users reported the app’s outage.
Instagram was down on Sunday around the time 5:45 PM EST, which is Monday 5:45 AM Philippines standard time. Reports spiked up to 7,000 at 8:30 PM EST (8:30 AM Philippine Standard Time).
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused some people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we’re sorry for any disruption this has caused,” Meta spokesperson, Dave Arnold, said to Variety.
On Twitter, #instagramdown quickly became a trend as users express their annoyance and issues in the platform. Users worldwide complained in other social media platforms and made sure to let Instagram know about their discontent.
Instagram’s parent companies Facebook, WhatApp, or Horizon Worlds were unaffected.
