MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Miss International 2022 coronation night pageant organizers announced the winners of the evening gown and national costume competitions six months after it took place. Philippine representative Hannah Arnold was one of the winners.
Arnold was one of the eight competitors who wore the best national costume.
Other people included in the top 8 are Dominican Republic’s Celine Santos, Frias, Hong Kong’s Rosemary Ling, Japan’s Kiko Matsuo, Laos’ Nina Puangtip Malichanh, Mexico’s Yuridia Duran, Uzbekistan’s Nigina Fakhriddinova.
A top 8 leaderboard was also announced on the best evening gown from the countries listed: Peru, Jamaica, Uzbekistan, Cabo Verde, Germany, Poland, Belarus, and Spain.
Arnold commented on Miss International’s Instagram post, saying, “Oh my gosh, this made me so emotional. Thank you so much for this special news, and thank you, Miss International, for recognizing the beautiful costume of the Philippines made by Sir @manny.halasan & @styledbypatrickhenry,” she said as she tagged her designers and stylists.
According to the designer Manny Halasan, the “Pamana” dress was inspired by Arnold’s favorite toy, a Barbie doll wearing Maria Clara Filipiniana. The designer mixed it with his childhood memories of his grandfather’s antique tambourine.
With Arnold’s Filipiniana costume, Halasan hopes Filipinos will remember their childhood experiences and reflect on the past. Manny also created a headpiece called Payment with real gold and natural diamonds such as blue and South Sea pearls. – WhatALife!/Zain
