Rajon Rondo, the ex-Celtics point guard, was arrested in Indiana over the weekend on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm and marijuana.

The former 37-year-old guard was first pulled over for a traffic offense in Jackson County, as per law enforcement’s news statement. An inquiry was initiated on Sunday afternoon following a report that a black 2022 Tesla was driving recklessly on I-65 South between Indianapolis and Louisville.

Authorities discovered a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Rondo, due to an existing protection order, is prohibited from possessing a firearm. All charges against him are misdemeanor offenses.

Rondo was detained at Jackson County Jail and subsequently released upon posting bail.

The two-time NBA champion has faced legal issues in the past, including a 2022 incident where a woman from Louisville sought an emergency protective order against Rondo, alleging threats to her life.

The order was lifted a year later following Rondo’s completion of anger management classes, counseling, and a mental health assessment.

The aforementioned woman filed a subsequent emergency protective order against Rondo in March of the same year. However, the case concluded with an agreed order five months later.

A child who was present in the car during Rondo’s arrest was released into the custody of a family member.

Rondo is anticipated to appear in Jackson County Superior Court, although a specific date has not been established.

Rajon Rondo played a pivotal role in securing an NBA title for the Celtics in 2008 and earned a second championship ring in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

As a four-time All-Star, all while with Boston, Rondo had stints with various teams over his NBA career, including the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. His most recent NBA season was in 2021-22, playing for Cleveland.
