Congresswoman Claudine Diana “Dendee” Bautista-Lim files a cyber libel case against actor Enchong Dee over tweets criticizing her wedding.
Bautista-Lim is the representative of party-list Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights. She married Jose French “Tracker” Lim in a civil wedding ceremony on February 20 this year. They then had another lavish ceremony last July 28 at Balesin.
According to PEP.ph, in the copy of the cyber libel complaint submitted to the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Davao Occidental last August 23, 2021, she received texts from friends and families on August 16 about the series of tweets from celebrities criticizing her lavish wedding.
Bautista-Lim said that Dee “went as far as saying that I used public coffers to fund my wedding by categorically saying that ‘The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding’, to the detriment and injury to my honor and name…”
“The posts were meant nothing more than their malicious intentions of maligning my person, depicting me as a corrupt public official,” she added.
The report further said that Bautista-Lim is seeking P500,000,000 in moral damages and another P500,000,000 in exemplary damages, amounting to a total of P1 billion damages, against the actor.
Enchong Dee wrote in his now-deleted tweet, “The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. So let’s not prolong this conversation and don’t say otherwise.”
The athlete-actor then issued a statement on social media two days following the accusation, apologizing to the congresswoman for his lapse of judgment.
“With deep regret, I would like to apologize to Congresswoman Claudine Bautista, her husband, their families, and the Dumper Partylist. I reacted based on impulse without thinking of the consequences nor the harm it may cause,” he wrote.

Other celebrities, including Agot Isidro, Pokwang, and Ogie Diaz, also criticize the alleged extravagant wedding amid the pandemic.
Despite receiving an apology tweet two days after the incident, Bautista-Lim said the apology didn’t feel sincere and “for the damage that he has done” to her name, dignity, and honor.
“He was not sorry to me and for the damage that he has done. He just wants to deflect, albeit unsuccessfully, this criminal charge against him. This does not do any good for him. It only bolstered and magnified his admission of guilt beyond reasonable doubt for his un-provoked and baseless libelous remarks,” Bautista-Lim said.
