Online health personality Doctor Willie Ong, aka Doc Willie, has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for cancer on Saturday, September 14.
Dr. Ong announced the news through his social media platforms, one of these being a video on his Facebook page:
“It’s serious, but I will fight this battle. For all cancer patients in the Philippines, we will all get better together,” Willie Ong said in the video.

Ong remembered feeling uncomfortable during a medical mission in April 2023, but he dismissed it as part of aging. However, in October of that year, he started experiencing back pain and admitted to having trouble sleeping flat on his back.
“Worst pain of my life. 10 out of 10. Iiyak ka. Buong gabi walang tulog,” Ong revealed.
When Willie finally had himself checked, doctors told him he had sarcoma cancer, with a 16 x 13 x 13-centimeter tumor located in his abdomen. He even stated that this tumor was the biggest the doctors had ever seen.

According to the Mayo Clinic, sarcoma is a type of cancer that occurs in various locations in your body. It usually begins in the patient’s bones or connective tissues. Medical experts cannot fully confirm what causes sarcoma cancer. The most expected reasons include DNA mutations and radiation exposure.
Health specialists have described Doc Willie’s cancer as very rare and aggressive, yet he kept a positive outlook.
“Malungkot ako? Hindi. Suwerte nga ako may asawa ako nagbabantay. Suwerte ako may [mga] anak ako… binabantayan ako. I’m so blessed,” he said.
