As the year-end rites for the school year 2020-2021 fastly approach, the Department of Education (DepEd) has its eyes set on August 23 as the start of classes for 2021-2022.
In case you missed it, in April this year, DepEd stated that it plans to open SY 2021-2022 on August 23, with the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte per Republic Act 11480.
Once Duterte approved the proposed date, students would only have six weeks of break, shorter than the usual 2 months. The current school year will end on July 10.
“Nonetheless, we are still conducting policy consultation and review with concerned stakeholders to determine the most appropriate course of action on this matter. We shall issue the official guidelines for School Year 2021-2022 calendar soon,” DepEd said.
