MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Claudine Barretto recently shared a heartfelt tribute to her former partner, the late actor Rico Yan. Barretto posted on Instagram a video and photos of her visit to Yan’s grave on Easter Sunday.
Although Claudine Barretto had other men in his life by that point, she continued to occasionally mention Rico Yan in her social media postings throughout the years. The actress posted a video and pictures from his most recent visit to Rico’s burial on April 13.
In the post, Barretto is seen wearing a black top and short skirt as she pays her respects to Yan, who was also her former real-life boyfriend. She greeted him with “Happy Easter” and noticed a single candy placed on top of the grave. She then crouched down to touch his tombstone and presumably said a prayer.
Barretto wrote in the caption, “Late post #eastersunday late night visit,” along with the hashtags #rycb and #Claudinians, and tagged Yan’s sister Tina. The post was met with an outpouring of support and sympathy from her followers.
Several admirers shared their continuous love and support for the former on-screen and real-life sweethearts in the comment section.
“Ayy kung buhay lng Rico sigurado ako hindi hindi ka niya pababayaan @claubarretto pinaka paborito ko loveteam on and off cam [red heart emoji],” Instagram user @ellavivit commented.
In the 1990s, Claudine and Rico were one of the most popular love teams. They started dating once their on-screen chemistry clicked, and they continued to draw a sizable following.
The late Rico Yan was a popular actor and television host in the Philippines, known for his romantic-comedy roles in numerous films and TV shows. Yan passed away in 2002 at the age of 27 due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis while on vacation in Palawan with friends, leaving behind a legacy in Philippine showbiz that shook the entertainment industry.
