Carlos Yulo’s father, Mark Andrew Yulo, told One News he is proud of his son. Caloy recently made Filipino history by winning two Olympic gold medals in one year. Filipinos across the world have been celebrating his win.
However, Caloy’s win has not been pure joy due to his family business reaching the internet. Fortunately, his father talked to One News about how proud he is of their son. He even appeared to be emotional talking about it, pausing the interview to compose himself.

Mark Andrew Yulo shared in the interview. “I’m so happy, I’m so blessed. I didn’t know my child could be that way.” He further added, “I’m just so happy. I’m speechless.” in Tagalog.
Caloy made Philippine history by achieving two prestigious gold medals in the Paris Olympics 2024. Because of Carlos’ victory, the country now has three Olympic gold medals, one from Hidilyn Diaz’s win in 2021.
His father adds, “Thank you to all those who prayed for my son. To all his supporters, God bless you.”
Multiple Filipinos wondered if Caloy’s relationship with his dad was similar to his mom’s. However, his father’s public comments of support prove otherwise. In an interview with News 5, Mark Andrew also shared that he is in contact with his son.

In the same interview, the father expressed his happiness at his son’s wins. When asked if his mother watched, he said no.
With regards to Caloy’s second gold medal, his father said in Tagalog, “ We didn’t expect two gold medals. The gold medal in the vault competition is already a bonus. But it was still given. It’s really good. Caloy is very blessed right now.”
Furthermore, he shared that Caloy’s goal was for his siblings to join him in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
