BTS’s Jimin becomes first South-Korean solo artist to top Billboard Hot 100 charts

bts jimin tops at no 1 in billboard hot 100 with like crazy

HOLYWOOD, USA — On Monday, American music and entertainment magazine Billboard announced that BTS’s Jimin became the first solo South Korean artist to top the #Hot100 thanks to his new single “Like Crazy.”

The new single “Like Crazy” is part of Jimin’s new solo album FACE. It replaced Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers,” which reigned number one for eight weeks.

“Like Crazy” is also the 66th track to debut at the peak of the Hot 100 chart, which dates back to 1958 and combines all-genre US streaming, radio play, and sales data, the industry tracker reported.

The BTS singer thanked fans for this new achievement by posting the chart on his Instagram page, writing, “Love u all.”

Meanwhile, his solo album “FACE” is currently at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This makes “FACE” the highest-charting album by a South Korean solo musician. It also beats fellow BTS member RM’s “Indigo,” which reached No. 3 in December, as reported by industry outlets.

BTS announces hiatus

The supergroup BTS has created a global cultural phenomenon through amazing performances, unstoppable fandom known as ARMY, and chart-dominating singles.

Although they have raked billions for the South Korean economy, the boys are not exempt from the mandatory military service required in South Korea. The law states that all able-bodied men in South Korea must serve at least 18 months in the military.

There were debates about whether or not to require the members of BTS to take part in military service. However, the group has decided to render the required time in the military, announcing a hiatus for the group.
