SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — BLACKPINK is officially back after releasing their long-awaited album Born Pink at 12 am KST today, September 16, 2022. At the same time, the girl group’s ‘Shut Down’ MV, a single from their album, reached 7.4 million views in under one hour.

“It’s not a comeback since we’ve never left” – Shut Down
While BLACKPINK made their fans wait for 2 years for new music, the girls have never left them with their constant presence on social media, shows both local and international, and, of course, their solo endeavours (most notably, LISA winning during the VMAs).
Jisoo, Rose, Lisa, and Jennie deliver to the fans 8 songs in Born Pink, just like The Album, their album released in 2020.
A review by RollingStone describes BLACKPINK’s new songs as “high-impact bangers and ferocious rock & roll anthems.”
In Born Pink, the girls remind you that “you’re nowhere near as cool as they are, but at least you’re lucky enough to bask in their charismatic glow,” added RollingStone.
Meanwhile, in the new ‘Shut Down’ MV, BLACKPINK call on their rivals and paparazzi and boasts about their life as pop stars.
The song was composed by TEDDY and 24, with lyrics from TEDDY, Danny Chung, and Vince. And fun fact, the song apparently samples classical composer Paganini’s “La Campanella,” which creates an unlikely combination of classical music and hip hop beats.
