MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Batang Quiapo marks the comeback of Primetime King Coco Martin and the breakthrough act of Miles Ocampo as the pilot episode trends at No. 1 on social media and reaches a total of 340,000+ concurrent viewers on its official Youtube live stream.
Batang Quiapo, a new primetime series of ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Entertainment, debuted its first episode on Monday, February 13, 2023.
The new Filipino TV series stars Primetime King Coco Martin and Lovi Poe, daughter of the 1989 Batang Quiapo star Fernando Poe Jr.
The pilot episode gained a total of 340,000+ concurrent viewers on ABS-CBN’s free live-streaming on YouTube, Kapamilya Online Live. It broke the 300,000 concurrent viewers set by the first episode of Darna on August 15 last year.
Other than the official hashtag #FPJsBatangQuiapo trending on social media, ‘Coco Martin’ and ‘Miles Ocampo’ also made it to the top trends.
Coco Martin was welcomed by fans, not only being commended as an actor but also as the director of the new ABS-CBN series.
“Coco Martin is the undisputed Primetime King. He makes must-see TV event,” wrote @nikowl on Twitter.
Miles Ocampo also performed her breakthrough act in the pilot episode as Marites, the young mother of Tanggol (played as an adult by Coco Martin).
Ocampo’s performance quickly made her trend worldwide, with over 10,000 tweets as of writing.
“Miles Ocampo, everyone. No wonder why direk Coco said they applauded when editing Miles Ocampo’s scene/s. She’s indeed one of this generation’s best actresses,” tweeted @majagnificent.

Batang Quiapo public viewing in Quiapo, Manila
ABS-CBN also hosted a public viewing in Quiapo, Manila, of Batang Quiapo’s pilot episode. Cast members, including Coco Martin, Miles Ocampo, Christopher de Leon, Cherry Pie Picache, Lito Lapid, Pen Medina, and more, attended the event.
ABS-CBN executives Cory Vidanes and Lauren Dyogi were also present.
Thousands of fans were reported to have shown up at the public viewing.
“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” which is meant to commemorate Fernando Poe Jr.’s 18th death anniversary, is an ABS-CBN TV series adaptation of the 1986 movie starring “Da King.” It airs every Monday to Friday, 8 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Cinemo, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC and TFC. – WhatALife!
