Filipino actress and host Anne Curtis expressed her heartfelt appreciation for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who joined the celebration of her birthday on It’s Showtime over the weekend.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, February 25, Curtis shared snippets of her birthday performance on the noontime variety show, which drew inspiration from Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour.”
“I had the best day with you today,” Curtis wrote in the caption. “Thank you sa ating mga balikbayan OFW’s na ‘umuwi’ para sa birthday ko. It was enchanting to meet all of you,” she added, explicitly acknowledging the OFWs.
Curtis further sent virtual hugs to the Filipino workers abroad, expressing her appreciation for their participation in her special day.
“At sa mga hindi nakauwi, a big virtual hug po. Thank you for tuning in and celebrating with me. I know it started off as playtime, but as I said during my performance,” she wrote.
The touching gesture resonated with Filipino netizens, who flooded the comments section with positive messages.
“I watched your birthday prod. I smiled, cried, and laughed. Pasabog ang shake it off!” One comment read while another said, “Literal na “Meet me at midnight” yung bday prod nyo in my timezone!! (Mastermind yarn?) Sobrang tuwa kahit mahina yung tv!!.”
Anne’s birthday celebration also brought back a popular meme from 2018, where her It’s Showtime co-host Vice Ganda jokingly suggested that one of the hardest things OFWs experience is missing important family celebrations, including birthdays.
Anne Curtis, unaware of the meme at the time, exchanged conversation that went viral and became an inside joke among Filipinos.
Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis once more had their usual banter on It’s Showtime.
Anne was giving a message to OFWs, when she inadvertently mentioned, “But I hope that for times that you guys feel sad kasi nga nami-miss niyo ang mga pamilya ko, I hope that this joke…” Anne was saying.
“Pamilya mo?” asked Meme. “Pamilya nila.” she added.
“Bakit pamilya mo ang mami-miss nila, kung pupunta sila ng ibang bansa, kaano-ano nila yung nanay mo ba’t mami-miss nila yun…” said Vice jokingly.

Anne could not help but laugh at the whole thing.
On February 17, 2024, Anne celebrated her 39th birthday. Last Saturday, she celebrated her birthday with her It’s Showtime family and the madlang people. Several OFWs were also seen in the studio crowd during the noontime broadcast.
