Yexel Sebastian and his partner Mikee Agustin, known for being YouTubers in the Philippines sharing their vast toy collection, leaves for Japan amidst allegations of investment scam. 

At the beginning of October, the duo was reported to the national radio show of Senator Raffy Tulfo (Wanted sa Radyo) for allegedly scamming their investors. The said investors reported on the radio show that Yexel Sebastian scammed them for over a million Philippine pesos. Most of the people who invested in Sebastian and Agustin’s scam were Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Reporters shared that one of the things they originally found suspicious was when they were asked to sign a Contract of Loan in exchange for the money the victims allegedly put out first. The investors also shared that they had their lapses in trusting the wrong person with their hard-earned money and were not expecting to be scammed by their favorite YouTubers.

To the complainant’s dismay, the couple was allowed to leave for Japan amidst the scam allegations surrounding them, with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirming that they were permitted to leave the country since there has been no official motion or case filed against the couple.

Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary Boying Remulla cited that only the DOJ can hold the couple once they have issued an immigration lookout bulletin. Therefore, BI has no official means to hold the couple from leaving the Philippines since the DOJ issued no motion.

However, according to Senator Raffy Tulfo, complaints against the couple have already been filed in the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the couple’s investment scheme.

Filipino netizens have also taken their sentiments of dismay regarding the Yexel Sebastian investment scam to Reddit, with anonymous users commenting “Wow! nakalabas agad, di man pinigilan habang yung ordinary citizens ang bilis ma-offload? Bias talaga ang BoI”. More users cited that they knew Sebastian as the sibling of one-half of the popular Filipino YouTube couple, ‘Jamich’.
