Work Suspension in Government Offices Announced Due To Weather

work suspension in government offices announced due to weather

The Malacañang Palace has announced class and work suspension in government offices today due to Tropical Storm Enteng. The Office of the Executive Secretary has released the following statement on social media.

“In view of the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm Enteng, work in the different offices in the Supreme Court is suspended as of 9:00 A.M. today, September 2, 2024.”

The advisory further stated that the session will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, September 3, at 3:00 PM.

The Government Office suspension for September 2, 2024, however, doesn’t include private companies and offices. Officials noted that the decision for private businesses will be at the discretion of their respective heads.

Earlier, the Malacañang Palace had made an early announcement of both private and public class suspensions in Metro Manila for the same reason. Several local governments had already suspended their classes before the Palace declaration.

The following announcement has also been trending under the hashtag: #SCPhWalangPasok, often paired with  #EntengPH. Despite the confirmation of class and work suspension in government offices today, many are more concerned about what the storm is capable of.

Many are already taking to social media and sharing posts of flooded areas and heavy rain from the storm.

“Las Piñas sa ibang area hanggang bewang na,” this user stated as her post shows her area being flooded.

Another user also showed how deep the flood is in his post.

This post shows Senate employers preparing to head home due to the suspension of work. The rain and wind are very strong on the small clip.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm Enteng is the Philippines’ fifth tropical cyclone for 2024. As of 1 AM, it was last seen over the coastal waters of Vinzons, Camarines Norte.
