Hollywood actor Will Smith is exiting his role in the upcoming big-budget action film ‘Sugar Bandits.’ However, Smith’s production studio, Westbrook, will remain to be a part of the project.
According to Deadline, the film was supposed to be in pre-production, and was beggining to scout for locations. However, Smith was uncertain about his commitments so it was rescheduled.

The reason for Will Smith’s exit isn’t confirmed, but people close to him say that it’s because of scheduling conflicts. Sources aren’t also sure which of Smith’s projects he’s proritizing to droput of the said action movie.
It’s speculated that Westbrook plans to re-cast Will Smith’s role and intends to make the movie in 2025 instead.
However, the film’s future is now uncertain. The approximately $80 million projectwas originally marketed to the European Film Market (EFM), Cannes, Amazon Prime, and leading independent distributors with the expectation that Smith would be starring in it.

Sugar Bandits” is based on Chuck Hogan’s novel Devils in Exile. Will Smith planned to portray a former special forces soldier leading a vigilante squad to eradicate Boston’s drug trade.
Earlier this year, producers hired Stefano Sollima, known for Without Remorse and Sicario: Day of the Soldado, as the director.
Will Smith took a break after the infamous incident at the Oscars where he slapped actor-comedian Chris Rock for telling an out of bounds joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The actor later returned to the spotlight after starring in the movie ‘Bad Boys; Ride or Die.’
Will Smith gained recognition for his roles in movies like I Am Legend, Hitch, and Men in Black.
